Strange feathers

Hi everyone —

My lovebird, Persil, turned 10 recently. I’ve noticed that as he’s entered middle age a few of his feathers have started to grow in white. He currently has one white flight feather and one white feather on his neck. Is this like people getting gray hair? Just a normal part of the aging process? Or is something else going on? Thanks I’m advance for any help!

I've seen lovebirds develop odd feathers as they age. Normally, I consider it part of the ageing process. The only thing that would concern me is the question of a possible underlying health condition. Do his droppings look normal? Is he eating normally? What I, personally, might do is have my avian vet do bloodwork to rule out liver problems. Chances are that everything is fine but just make sure.
