Hello I got a baby budige (Mixie( and a baby lovebird ( 'Tango) last January. I`ve had man parakeets but this is my first lovebird and (I think she) is a blast.

I never get my birds wings clipped and I live in Japan so my living area is fairly small and safe. The problem is while my parakeet hangs out in his cage area Tango my lovebird likes to sit on the tallest areas of my living room.

He loves to sit in m kitchen overhead light during the day (not when the light is on at night) and the inside gets covered in poo-poo quickly plus it covers the floor.

I`ve tried covering the top with towels but she just knocks them off... I tried a plastic alligator to scare her but it didn`t work.

any suggestions...

Parrots seek high areas to "roost" when they sleep at night for security purposes..... I'm guessing the cage is not a good choice for sleeping so my best suggestion for sleeping on the light is to use something to anchor the ends of the towel together so it cannot be pushed to the floor. I have an Amazon parrot who loves to sit on the top of wooden doors and chew wood work, molding and doors! I found that putting a hand towel on the top of the door (red towel) will keep her off it. If I can close the door in question, that works, too.

If you can share a picture of the light in question, I may be able to think of other things that might work. :)
