Mango's not chirping

mango is usually the most loud and jumpy bird I know and she never stops tweeting. Yet she hadn't chirped for hours yesterday, I did this hushing sound that for some reason she loves to chirp and dance to, it never fails to make her jump around but when I did it she didn't chirp once. I let it go as her being worked up about something as her behavior is completely normal otherwise so I gave her the night and went back in the morning to see if she was chirping again but she wasn't. Is this a medical problem or a psychological one because not much changed since yesterday and she was herself in the morning to afternoon

edit: she also seems to be really tired and dose off easily should I bring her to a vet, I'm getting really worried.

My first rule of thumb is change in behavior usually means something could be wrong. I think a vet visit is in order. Years ago, Ginger, my CAG, was unusually quiet and I took her to my vet. After testing, my vet found the beginnings of liver disease. We treated her and she's been fine ever since. Behavior change can be an early warning and early treatment could mean a much better recovery.

thanks Linda, yesterday we decided it was best to let mango rest in her cage for the majority of the day and by evening she was chirping a lot more, today morning when I took her out she seemed like her old self again, just slightly more aggressive but that's probably due to her being in the cage for the entirety of yesterday. We decided to limit going out time for 3-4 hrs a day for a couple days but overall she seems fine now should I still get a check up?

Glad to hear Mango is back to her old self! I would watch her carefully and if you see the behavior return, make the vet appointment. One thing with parrots. Once you see symptoms of any kind of illness, the clock begins ticking. I'd rather do a vet visit and find nothing than to wait and have an emergency. Should you opt to see the vet, make sure the vet does at least a gram stain.

thanks! I'll book an appointment sometime next week if I see her display any more symptoms even if they are subtle but for now she is doing fine ill lyk if there are any updates.

That sounds like a good plan. I have several of my flock who see my vet every year just to make sure they are in good health and have no problems. I tend to do this with my much older ones like Monty, my Double Yellow Head Amazon.
