Jackie,

That is so sad. I hope they are able to work something out to save them. Rather than euthinize them all, they could at least try and see if some rescue groups, zoo's, aviariums, etc..... would take some. I wish I could take some of them

That sounds like a great plan......

I do hope they discuss the problem and come up with a better solution than the direction they're head in right now.

I hated to post this, but I get emails from their website and was just dumb-founded when I read about it. Sounds like the authorities didn't even research this to find a better solution. It really is so sad. :(

While Quaker Parrots are considered "pests" in the wild, I totally disagree with the method being used. Euthanization is being done at night and the birds don't have a chance! >: >: >: >:

They can be very destructive but my own personal opinion is that relocation is a much better option.

Why don't they let the animal group that is there and very upset over the situation take the birds?....I mean if catching the adult birds is possible....and obviously it is if they are killing them by euthanization after capture.....how hard would it be to put them into a cage and hand them to a group for release or study.....interesting what makes the world go around, isn't it?!

Or better yet....why don't they make the power poles where birds can't build a nest on them?....and eliminate the problem to begin with?
