I can definately tell winter is here.
Ditto is eating almost 6 avi-cake squares, 8 nutriberries, a handfull of sugar snap peas and some carrots, brocoli and spinach a day now.
I forgot how much he eats in the winter. You'd think he'd weigh as much as a Macaw after eating all that.

Ah ha! Now I know where Echo's twin brother lives!!! Echo is an eating machine that will eat 24/7, as long as there's food available and it doesn't matter what kind of food! By amount of food consumed in one day, Echo should weigh as much as Dao.......

Echo's yellow peachie twin. :lol
When it's cold outside, Ditto's always got his face planted in a food bowl. Good thing too because I used to think he was too skinny. Since he's been flying again these last few months he's filled out nicely. And taken to eating like a horse. He even brings a snack to the couch for TV time. :lol

When temperatures fall, birds eat more so they have enough energy to keep themselves warm. It's amazing some of the cold temperatures that finches can tolerate as long as they are out of drafts and have plenty of food all day/night long!

Yep. The house finches stay around here all year long. I have pictures somewhere of a pair of house finches at my brothers house eating from his feeder in the snow.
What's really amazing is how much a sparrow can puff up when it's cold. I was looking through my pics today and found some of the birds in the snow. There were a few sparrows puffed up as big as baseballs. :lol Of course I think the temps were in the teens that day too.
