I remembered last week, why I do NOT like working from home. I had to wait for some people to come and work on the house so I plugged my laptop in and logged in from the house. Here's how my day went.

7am:
Say good morning to birdies.
Clean out food and water dishes.
Give Melody new nesting material and check on nest box.
Log in and begin to read email.
Break up squabble between Milo and Melody.
Go back to reading email.
Milo takes bath in water dish. Refill water.
Open excel spreadsheet and begin to plan projects for next work cycle.
Break up another squabble between Milo and Melody.
Cut up carrots for Milo and Melody.
Go back to project plan.
Milo now screaming the walls down.
Bring Milo out and sit back down at the computer.
Milo steals the little blue nub off the computer keyboard and runs with it.
Crawl under dining room table after the bird, yelling and cursing.
<Contractor working on doors in the next room laughs.>
Retrieve little blue nub and reassemble computer.
Get a broccoli piece for Milo.
Sit back down at computer. Open project plan. Again.
Milo steals key off keyboard and runs with it.
Milo goes back in cage.
Sit back down at computer.
Milo carries on with pleading chirps and let-me-out wing flaps.

All this, before 9am. I can't imagine doing this every day!

You need a 'bird safe' computer. A pair of ear plugs. A bottle of birdie 'bite sized' Valium.

Then some work'll get done.

Then you's gotta get people's bite sized Valium. Or take about 200 birdie sized ones.

Jennifer,

That's too funny. My work days at home sound about the same except I can't touch the computer or Bela will nip at my fingers. Lacey is a good little girlie, and Cappie, well, he thinks he has to be under my neck, down my shirt, and in between all that, he has to have constant skirtches.

So..... What I'm saying is working at home, I don't get much work done:lol

I don't know how any of you get anything done with so many birds. I have only one and she doesn't let me get any work done for school. I had to hand in an essay to my professor with bird nibbles on the corner of the pages (at least my prof thought it was funny). I know those "take me out" flaps and chirps all too well. Kameko adds in the banging of the food dish until i have no other option but to take her out... haha. A little birdy valium would be nice sometimes :lol . You will all be my mentors when i get more than one bird down the road... i don't know how you do it :D .

Isnt it funny when they throw what Karen and I call a "birdy fit" ?

I cant resist Trix when he does that and he knows it. Its not like he spends anytime in his mansion cage anyways :lol

Ditto starts the birdy fit before I even get in the house. I can hear him as soon as I get out of my car at night.

Dave doesn't have to be a stay-at-home-dude to make Ditto happy!

But Ditto might like a little bit of birdy company during the day ;)

I can attest to everything Mandolin said. Schoolwork just can't get done in the presence of lovebirds, LOL. And yeah I've turned in papers with bird nibbles on them before too.

Jennifer, your post had me rolling on the floor. Milo stealing key parts -- now that's some funny stuff. Cuz I can totally picture my Kirby doing it and running away too. I had to clip all my birds' wings quite a bit again because they were starting to fly out of the room so I'd have to get up off the computer every other minute to retrieve their little birdie butts because they'd squawk for me from the other room. I gave up yelling back to them, "JUST FLY BACK IN HERE YOURSELF!" Gotta cater to everybirdies' needs... :p

Ditto does that sometimes when we're at the computer. He'll fly to the living room and sit on the couch, then yell at me to come in and watch tv with him.
