Ok, so shoot me, this is nothing about birds, but I needed to vent....
I work at a bank, and last year after only working there a year, we were robbed, and today at a different branch I was robbed again.

I am just outraged at the gull and guts of some people , they do not think of how they affect others or how they are going to change others lives... but on the other hand I feel sorry for them because they must be in need.... grrr

thanks for the venting.. sry about the non-bird post...

I've been in banking for 25 yrs and I've seen it too. It's amazing to see, but I learned some great security tips in my earlier years and I don't feel so vulnerable when it happens. It's hard to understand their reasoning for doing something like that so I tend to think the same - that they are in need and can't seem to find a way out. It's sad. I'm just glad you're alright and it wasn't a violent robbery.

Thank God you're OK. It's hard to understand what makes people do such awful things.

I'm very sorry, Rebecca.

I can't imagine how scary that must have been...

Rebecca, vent away! I'd sure vent if I'd been through that and you've been through it twice! I'm so sorry and can only imagine how scary that situation would be. My "home" bank has been robbed twice and they have finally put huge thick glass between us and the tellers.

I too have been faced with a robber, he held a butcher knife at my throat and demanded the cash from the register where I worked. This was over 12 yrs ago and I still remember it as if it happened yesterday.
If you need to vent, go ahead. And don't be afraid to get some therapy for your fears and anger. Sometimes its more than we can handle.

Rebecca,

I can't imagine what goes through your head when something like that happens. I'm glad you were not hurt, that is the important thing. You didn't say, but I do hope they catch this person. I know there are some people in need in the world, but robbery is still not right.

Yep, we are about the birds, but we are also about being there for each other when one of us needs to vent, a shoulder, or an ear, so vent on;)

I was robbed at knife point when I was 17 yrs old and working at a fast food restaraunt. I've never forgot it and always hated it when I had to work in retail of food restaraunts. To be honest, I kind of get nervous even when I'm doing my normal banking in a bank. In fact, I don't think I'm ever in a bank without thinking about it being robbed while I'm there. I think Hawaii banks have a higher than average rate of being robbed.

Anyway, I'm sorry you've had to go through this. It is, no doubt, very unerving and upsetting. I'm glad you're okay.

I was robbed many years ago working at a gas station (before everywhere was self serve) and I still remember the license plate of the vehicle he was a passenger in. JH3532! I was able to identify the thief from mug shots and actually ran into him and his wife/girlfriend? (9 mo pregnant) at a wedding reception 10 years later. If he remembered me, he didn't acknowledge it. Sure felt funny though. People can rationalize some pretty rotten things. Hope you're doing ok.
