I love owls. When I was a kid we had quite a few owls living around our house. Mostly screech owls but there was a huge Great Horned Owl that lived there too. He would occasionally set up shop hunting rabbits in a tree next to the lane leading to the house. He'd chase anything away that wasn't edible, people, cars, etc.... I was coming home on my motorcycle one night and zoom, out of nowhere came this huge owl. If I hadn't ducked he would have taken my head off! Even my 30 pound cat would steer clear of the area he was in.

Wow, Dave!
Neat article and thanks for sharing it! I love owls but we don't see them too often where I'm at.

There used to be a Snowy Owl that lived in a field about fifteen minutes away from where I live. I remember this one time we spotted him atop a telephone poll, and he turned his head all the way around. It's spectacular to see just the owl, but a nice bonus to see the 360, as well.

When I was in Jr. High (many, many yrs ago  ), I had a Science teacher who had an owl in our classroom. He had been injured and Mr. Boatwright was rehabing him. It was an experience to see one up close & personal. I can't remember what kind he was, but I remember he was large and brown - beautiful!

:lol We'll have to call you Perran Potter if you get an owl!
Owls are beautiful. We had screech and great horned owls in the woods around our house growing up. Mysterious birds they are.
