This story reminded me of the one that came out of Germany last year: http://www.timesonline.co.uk/article/0,,2-1988755,00.html

That's amazing. Although, it's too bad that Taylor gave up poor Ziggy. I'm sure if he truly loved the bird, and put his mind to it, he could have overcome the 'torture'.

I saw this on CNN website this morning. Poor Ziggy! I think eventually he would've gotten the phrases off his mind and switched to something else. I don't think I could've given him away. It's sad.

Wow,

I'm surprised at the outcome. I would think Ziggy would deserve better than being put out for what he did. I'm not taking up for the girl for cheating on him, but if this is the way he treats someone he loves, well........ I'm just saying if he thought his beloved grey, whom he had since a chick was given up, how well did he treat the girlfriend????? Kinda hard to feel too sorry for him. The girlfriend cheats on him, so he dumps both her and the bird????>:

The outcome and the man are STUPID!!!!! >: >: There are ways to train a parrot to stop saying certain words and he didn't even try. He is no better than the cheating woman! I hope the grey's new family love and respect him like he deserves!

wow is that a lot of vitriol directed at a guy that got cuckolded by his girlfriend... first off, he's a lot better than the girl. she not only cheated on him, but did it at their place, repeatedly and passionately, on their furniture so much and with such emphasis that it was burned into the poor bird's head.

she is a horrible person.

he was victimized. those who are victimized usually give up any and all reminders of being victimized. it is a natural reaction.

it is an unfortunate but common reaction to any kind of victimization. i feel bad for him and the bird. she, on the other hand, is a horrible human being that caused the entire problem.

if she wasn't happy, she should have been honest and gotten out and not caused all the heartbreak.

take it easy on the guy. how would you like to be repeatedly reminded again and again of how someone you love took advantage of you in the worst possible way?

people give up their birds because they scream....think about how many more would give them up if they screamed the name of their ex-lover's boyfriend's name.

leave the poor guy alone. he suffered plenty. as has the bird. the girl, on the other hand, deserves your scorn...

and if someone else writes on here something like "see how he treats his bird? he must not be nice. maybe he deserved it" I will remind you that one is not an indication of the other any more than how a woman dresses is an indication of how far a guy is allowed to advance with her.

I like my method better. She leaves and I keep her parrot!

I think it was probably best for him to rehome the bird. He felt that in his heart, and I have no reason to argue against that.

Even if he taught it a new vocabulary, he maybe would have unconsciously treated it differently than he did before -- through no fault of his own, and definitely not the bird's fault. The pain of betrayal can run very deep.
