I have to ask. I know we've discussed this numerous times, but what type of humidifier does anyone use for their birds - warm mist or cool mist? I've had two warm mist in the past, but sold them in a yard sale and I need a very small one for the birdroom. I've decided, for next winter, to get a whole house humidifier as they are not very expensive. So should it be warm or cool mist?

Jackie, I use the cool mist that I've gotten at Home Depot for $20. When they have filters, I stock up. The filters really need to be changed often, about every couple of weeks.

Thanks Janie!
With winter almost over down here, it's slim pickin's for humidifiers & heaters. Most of what I saw left on the shelves were cool mist. :)

Yes, it is late and finding filters will be harder than finding the humidifiers. I bought 10 filters in Sept. for that very reason. I had a few left from last year and would have bought more than 10 if they'd had them.

What kind of humidifier do you have? I can look while I'm out if you like.

I meant to add that....it's a Honeywell. Unfortunately, each model uses a different filter. Mine (I have three) use Model HC-888 replacement filters.
MY avian vet recommended cool mist when we were treating Sam for sinus infections.

Mimi, what brand is it and is it easy to clean? Mine is NOT easy to clean. I have yet to figure out how to clean the fan blades as there is no way to take it apart for cleaning. The filter is easy since it is disposable but I'd really like to have one w/o a filter. Please let me know what you have. Thanks!

Cool mist for me. Mine is a Holmes 'whole house' humidifier, and I love it. The filters are a bit expensive, though.
