View Full Version : My new baby!
Okay... everyone might think it'd be a Green Cheek. :p Nahh!!! I've got a female Boston Terrier. She's about 8weeks and she's brindle. She's shy and abit timid around strangers, but we're working on that. We named her Lola and she's just the biggest cuddle bug! She likes to sleep as close to my head as possible... which may be a problem when she gets bigger. >o
Her dad is 23 lbs and her mama is 17 lbs. The only thing I didn't count on was puppy gas... :x She about cleared the living room on night! :x It maybe the canned meat-like puppy food. She loves it, but it don't love her! She *pooted* on my Fiance and he said it was like a super-heated breeze against his leg. You won't catch me that close to her end!
Next week, she's going in for her Spay, vaccinations, and heartworm/flea preventatives.

Sue that is wonderful, isn't boston terrier those cute little black and white dogs with a lot of spunk? They are so cute. That is what I wanted for our next dog, but Bently (the chihuahua) is a keeper. Post pictures.

Amanda, congratulations! :)
Isn't 8 weeks young for her to be spayed? I know that they do it younger and younger than they used to but that seems so young. Course, if you vet says it's OK, it must be. Love her name! :D

A dog is generally suitable to be spayed at six months of age. Eight weeks is definitely too young.
Congrats on your new baby. Heh, my dogs 'let it out' every so often. What brand of food are you feeding her? If you've abruptly changed her diet, then she may be experiencing gastrointestinal problems.
I hope you have lots of pictures for us.

Lisa, I had my dog spayed at 9 months old (I was always under the impression that they needed to go through one "heat" first but that's not true) and the vet did tell me that he will spay/nuter a dog anytime after 2 months. It does sound young to me though, too.

My dogs were "fixed" when I adopted them, thank good too..cause I didnt want to have to deal with a ticked off 85lb dog now missing something he always had ;) hehe..
Congrats on the BT!!! They are such cuties!!!! :)
Oops...>o The Spay isn't schedualed until later. Got a bit ahead of myself on my post. Anyway, Lola's gotten into biting everything. She thinks she's a bunny and hops around like a nut. I love her and she's not shy around strangers as much. We take her to all the pet stores and everyone stops to pet her. When you scratch her butt, she grunts and nibbles on my arm like it's corn on the cob! She's just learned she can bark and uses it like crazy when we play.
I've been so busy lately... new puppy and to add to this, I'm boarding a pied Cockatiel named "Birdie" in a seperate room from my finch and lovie. Total difference in a lovie and a tiel. Birdie's so dusty! Who knew a little bird could be so dusty? Birdie likes the head scritches, but doesn't like being handled too much. Birdie and I watch tv together ( after I've played with Mikey and take care of the finch, of course ) and hopefully this will make him/her more friendly. ( I think it's a male, orange cheeks and not nippy at all )
Birdie's content with hanging out, while Mikey has to explore everything.

Really, only two months? I'm positive that we do it after six months at the clinic I work at, and have always been told that six months is earliest. I'll see what my boss has to say.
Both male and female cockatiels can have orange cheeks. Males are supposed to be 'brighter', though. There are other, more accurate ways to sex cockatiels, though.
