Thanks to all you fine folks giving me such great advice...... Gunther has STOPPED plucking!!!!!!!

I'm sure it will take a while for his leg feathers to grow back (and some of his chest too) but I am 99% positive he is no longer plucking. Thank you everyone!

Tonks has continued to pluck but we are working with her and letting her go at her own pace. She takes peanuts out of our hands and gives us kisses through the cage so that is something. And when we leave the room she makes a sad little honking sound. lol.

So thanks for all your help everybody. It really made me feel better about my poor Gunther baby.

Jessie, I'm glad to hear Gunther has stopped. Good sign that it was probably just a temporary behavior caused by the change. Fingers Crossed that Tonks decides to stop too.

Jessie that is great news. I just joined my local bird club a month ago and in this months newsletter was a very interesting article about caged birds not being able to forage for food like birds in the wild do for 4 to 6 hours each day and so over preening occurs. I did something different today. I served chopped up brocolli slaw instead of the usual bean/rice/egg/veggie breakfast and I served it on a small plate in the bottom of the cages. Most everybirdie has ventured down to eat some and most falling bits fell right back onto the plate (how nice :D ) my birds drop much of their soft food and it falls down in the bottom under the grate. Glad to hear Gunther and Tonks are doing so good. I knew they would.
