are there any size/pixel size requirements for placing a signature on the forums?

Roughly avatar size, no bigger than my own.

It's appreciated to keep it small. There is another bird board where people have tons of pics in their sig. Really makes it annoying to have to scroll down several pages to get to the next post. So much so that I won't even visit their forum.
