"Laughing"...kinda

Amaretto did something really weird this morning. I stuck my finger in her cage like I usually do when I'm just passing by or somethingand can't take her out. I put my finger next to her and she started moving her head up and down and making what sounded like she was laughing ("ha ha ha" - but in a whisper and somewhat raspy). I thought maybe she was hissing at me, but I couldn't see why all of a sudden she would hiss at me. Then I thought she might have been regurgitating and a few seconds later there was a seed in her mouth, so I assumed that's what it was.

Anywho, she did it again, except this time, nothing came up (no seeds), and it was just the head bob and then the noise. Could it be that she's hissing at me?

For the past ten minutes I've tried to get her to do it again (not knowing what/why she's doing it) and she hasn't. Maybe it was a little mood swing?

Both of my younger birds (a year old) have done this to my finger. Feeding me I would assume. :D

Doesn't seem like hissing, as I think birdie would take a charge at the finger if it were bothering him before he hissed.

Birdies don't always follow through with the actual bringing up of food, every time, but the gacking movement is a sign that your finger is his new mate. What a lucky little finger you have there. It sounds like the beginning of a lasting relationship.

I wouldn't venture a guess on gender. :) My hen gacks for my boy bird and vice versa.

My hens all gack, too. Remember, males gack for their women and women gack for their young. Everyone gets a good gacking from someone they love, in the birdie world.

Molly & Piper gack to me all the time - mainly my fingers & hands. They also gack to each other - all the time. Daisy is too busy gacking to Olivia and Olivia doesn't gack much cause she's too busy accepting Daisy's gacking. Got it? :D Oh the world of Gacking :lol
