This is kinda a toy/behavior question. Today, I went to Petco to buy a couple toys for Indy; to help that overactive beak of his. I found this toy called "Polly wanna necklace" which is pretty much a necklace with cool chains and bells and such that a little lovie might be interested in. It is "meant" to help with bonding, but I'm not sure if Indy will go for it. I'm not too sure it would be safe for either me or Indy to hang the thing around my neck and have him explore. Unless, offering him my shoulder instead of my hand as a perch would help bonding... Or hanging it on my arm to get him used to hands would work... Or something like that...
I dunno. Any thoughts or advice would be greatly appreciated... ;)

Has anyone used this product before or something like it?

I've seen similar ones at our local bird shows but most of them are made from acrylic pieces and wood. I got one when I bought Harley, my TAG, and it took about a week for him to demolish all the wood.... :lol

:lol I'm glad he enjoyed it. However, I'm not sure if it will entice Indy to get close to me... He's a scardy bird. He's even afraid of his mineral block. Its been in his cage since I changed cages and I decided to move it so he'd get better access to it... he freaked and fluttered around screaming bloody murder, as if he'd never seen it before... >o

I also doubt that it would serve the intended purpose, at least not now. The only thing that's going to work with Indy is time, love, kindness and tons of patience. Once he's comfortable with you, he may enjoy the necklace but right now I think it would act as a deterrent.....

You might try hanging the necklace someplace that he will notice, and play with it, for a few days. Once he gts interested in it, put it on your neck.j
I wouldn't try it any other way. New things, even toys, can frighten a lovebird. And, if they are hanging off a person that lovie is already afraid of, that's a double whammy.
