Okay, so we are stuck with a crow.

I have called her Loki (after the god) ans I am pretty positive it's a girl (girlish vibes! LOL)
Anyhow, has anyone ever raised a disabled bird before?
One of her legs doesn't work, and is always limp.
I am hoping she will learn to get around even with her disability.

Also, she is an extremely fussy eater. Loki will eat a bite or two of chicken, then wont want anymore. I can't get her to eat barely anything either.
Any suggestions?

Here are two video's of her trying to walk and being held. When she 'walks', Loki will prop herself up with her wings and try to move forward. Her legs often get crossed or her working leg will be on top of her non-working one.

Her left leg is the one that doesn't work.
Thanks!

Tucker,

Where are you located? I am in Tennessee, and we have a wildlife rehab here called Walden's Puddle. I know other states also have wildlife rehabs, and this would be the best option for your crow. They have vets on staff, and they are treated, kept in a natural environment until they are healed, and then released back into the wild. If they are not releasable, they do have a home for life at the rehab, at least they do at my rehab facility here.

One other thing I should mention is that it is against the law to keep a wild bird in your home unless you are licensed to do so by the state.

I hope the Loki will be alright.

Tucker, I have talked (and met) my wild bird rehabber. She only does song birds but we have talked about many that she has cared for. This bird really needs to be placed with a licensed rehabber. There is no way to correct an injury w/o that knowledge and the crow will probably end up lame for life if it isn't corrected soon and in the right way. I am going to give you a link to my wild bird forum. There are a few licensed rehabbers that check in there and a few members that are especially fond of crows. You will need to register (free) to post a question but I think you might get some good feed back there. There is also a list at the top of the forum under "Emergency care for birds and FAQ's" that will give you a list of wild life rehabbers in your area. This bird definitely needs vet care. Do you have an avian vet? That is the first person I'd call....and a wild life rehabber. Here is that link: http://nature.gardenweb.com/forums/bird/

I am familiar with the place Lori mentioned in TN. It is one of the few that I've ever heard of and is the very one that my rehabber has used when she had an injured bird that could not be released back into the wild. Like maybe a broken wing that could not be repaired enough for flight. My understanding is that if a bird is OK but not able to be released, it can live it's life there in the most natural setting possible. I'm in GA and we have nothing like that here.

FYI,
Tucker is in Canada. Anyone know of any rehab places there?

I don't but the link I gave Tucker has members all over the world so hopefully there will be one for a rehabber in his area.

Okay, I will look into getting her to a rehab place.

Thanks for all the suggestions!
