Quiet night in the office, which gets me into all sorts of trouble on-line

One of my favorite things to do is look for photos of lovebirds. I think that one lovebird is just as lovely as the last but there sure are some stunners out there.

I'm always enchanted by the cremino PF lovies. They look SO angelic. I'm also rather fond of the slate and violet masked lovies.

What are some of your favorites?

Hi there!

For roseicollis, I would have to choose the Lutino Peachface and a Peachface Fallow, love the color contrast....

For fischeri, the pastel olives/greens are my usual pics, the red beak goes well with the overall color of the bird.....

For personata, I would probably choose an Olive or Cobalt Blue, just like what I have.....

Have a pleasant day.

Eliza,

I am pretty partial to the yellow birdies, and you said it!!!! Creaminos are so angelic in appearance, and my Lacey if a angel. In fact that's what I call her, Lacey LuLu Angel. That's her full name:)

They are all stunning though. They seem to have perfect coloring. Even the pied lovies colors seem to flow and meld perfectly. A person can get in allot of trouble real quick surrounded by all that beautiful color:lol

I would have to say Turquoise DF Violet Edged Dilute are my favourite Peachface mutations. I am trying to breed them myself but it will take me a few years.

I love the Mauve Masks but we can't get them here in Australia.

And the Pied Fischers are amazing

Hi Jess. How come mauve masks are hard to get in Australia?

Regarding the dominant pied fischers, I totally agree with you on this one too! They look so stunning......8)

We don't have Dark Factors in Australia, we only have Violet factors. So what appears to be a Cobalt is actually a SF Violet Blue. What appears to be a Dark Green is actually a SF Violet Green and what appears to be an Olive is actually a DF Violet Green.
But people are still selling them as Dark Factors:roll:

I know what you mean! On occasion I have seen creminos at area bird stores and they are the first ones I'm drawn to. Which is funny, seeing as how Beetle is about as green as a bird could be

I'm always enchanted by the cremino PF lovies. They look SO angelic.

I have an evil creamino:evil:  . Her name is Cuddlebunny and until she came to live with us I thought people were crazy when they said their lovebird was mean. Well she's mean and evil to both bird and human equally. She especially like to abuse her mate Birdy Boots, which is sad cause he's such a sweet guy....The funny thing is Cuddlebunny is tame and totally handeable, but if she's in a mood beware. Blood will be shed and that beak will latch on to jugulars:x :x .

The question is an interesting but difficult one for me. I have lots of lovebirds of various mutations and have seen many more, but a lot of times the personality of my own lovebirds effect who and what I think are beautiful. I really think the most beautiful bird in the world is my Won Ton. He is a green series OF with a dark factor. So stunning that guy is, I love the way the bright orange contrasts against his green body and the df really adds to the color as it makes his green darker and his rump is beautiful. He is also a great bird, friend, mate and father. I totally admire this little guy and I worship the ground he flies over :D :D .

I've never seen a single one that I didn't think was beautiful but I have to say that my favorite mutation is the most common peachie.....a "normal" peachface. I just had to have a WF Violet, yes I did, :D, but any time a non bird owner sees my three, they all think Oliver is by far the most beautiful. :)

If I'd never had a lovebird and was looking to buy my first one, I would go for the Mask or Fishers. When I see Heather's masked flock and Elle's fischer, I am pea green with envy! :D

Funny Janie, everytime someone comes over to my house for the first time and meets my birds they are always most impressed and in awe of Zimber, my cobalt blue masked lovie. He is a beautiful guy, but I guess I'm just desensitized after six years   .

Laura, I had never seen a lovebird (that I remembered) until I got Oliver but when I got "The Lovebird Handbook" and saw those Masked birdies, I nearly fell out of my chair! I think Zimber and Squeaker (God bless him) are just knock out gorgeous! :D

I honestly don't think I can come up with a favorite. As much as I adore lutinos, I find each and every lovie irresistible (obviously with the size of my flock!). Pied lovies are magnificent, as are OF, and Opalines. Masked, Fischers, Creaminos (evil and good!), Violets, Edged Dilutes, etc... then you see pictures of Abbys and their absolute "greenness" and the rarer species. Oh, forget it. I'll never make a decision.

I love them all!

Mine is the Cobalt Double Violet Whitefaced Blue Opaline. Picture, if you will, a deep Violet Lovebird, only instead of a white headband, the whole head is white.

It'll take me a couple years to breed my own - but I'm working on it...

Eric, I am not positive about this but I think that is the color of a bird Robin (adm. on this forum) had in her photo album and it was truly the most beautiful lovebird I've ever seen. I think it was named Luna. When I saw that white head, WOW! :D

My favorite mutation? I have 2 favorite mutations, and I have them both.

Milo is a WF violet. He has 1 dark factor which gives him a nice royal purple coloring on his rump. Bird people go crazy over him.

But it's Melody who gets all the attention of the non-bird people. She is a blue Australian Cinnamon, with 1 dark factor. She's very colorful: orange forehead, apricot colored bib, lemon-lime body, gray flights, powder blue rump, little pink feet.

Well, if you insist... My Molly's mutation is probably my favorite - PF Lutino. He out shines them all and I tell him everyday too :D

My favorite? I'd say the ones with feathers!

I'm a bit biased but I'd have to say Ditto (Heavily pied cobalt seagreen).

But masked and Fischers are amazing too. And I wouldn't mind having a Milobirdy. And......
