Hi!
Today I was searching for a petshop where to get a peachface friend for my lutino. So finally I found one where there were 2 peaches (I must say that they were in miserable condition) but one of them was brown with some blue feathers on his back and tail - I couldn't see so well. OK - take a look (http://i69.photobucket.com/albums/i57/MaurI-86/6e11c059.jpg). (I am sorry for poor quality - cheap phone camera - zoom it to see better)
Is this normal? I have red about red coloring which may fade later but this was new.

It looks like it is what is called an Olive Peachface, which means a standard peachface with two dark factors, however if that were the case, the rump color would be a grey color, not blue; however it's hard to tell by the picture really.

I think it looks like a double dark factor peachie too. The rump will tell you for sure, as MJ stated. If it is dark gray, he is an olive.
That red does go pretty far down his breast. I've not noticed that before on a lovie.

Well I don't know genetics so well so I can't judge but that wasn't an olive color - I have seen a lot of pics of lovies but nothing similar. His color was something like this (http://z.about.com/d/psychology/1/0/0/1/color_brown.jpg) and those blue feathers were maybe dark blue to violet or something like this (http://www.getscrappy.com/images/Resize%20of%20dkviolet.jpg).

Really hard to say. Perhaps a dark factor and a violet factor which does make for a darker feather color, but not brown considering the tailfeathers are that color. Are the birds under lights? I wonder if that is having any bearing on the color.

Nope lights were off just for those two lovies - I guess to keep them quiet. The brown color was really brown (99,999%) - just like in the picture.

With the red face, it's a green series lovie but I've never seen a green series bird with feathers that color. The only possiblity would be a green series American Cinnamon Slate but the rump would be grey. You would not find any blue feathering at all on a double dark factor Peachie. Wish you had gotten more than one photo...................
