Another question.... Joelie always jumps at my terrier and chases him around the house! No matter where my poor doggie is, Joelie wants to charge at him. He stands up real tall and runs right at him. My dog is very passive and runs & hides whenever this happens. :( He has never chased the bird or anything of the sort. It's to the point my dog won't even come in the living room if Joelie is out of the cage. Is Joelie jealous of my dog? Maybe threatened??

while this may seem funny, given the size difference, it would only take a second for your dog to bite out of fear...i would be very careful to keep the dog out of the room when your bird is out. sounds like this is no fun for the dog either:wink:

Def. no fun for my poor dog. He is such a big wuss. I have tried telling Joelie "no" in a low tone but it hasn't stopped the behavior. I just feel bad. My dog has always been our baby and now the poor thing can't be around us when we have our new baby out. I am hoping this stops soon. We have only had Joelie for like 2 months and this behavior started about a month ago. Thanks for the post.

Lovies have no fear of larger animals at all. When we only had one lovebird (seems like forever ago) we didn't know any better and he would literally get on the floor and chase our 18lb cat down the stairs. The cat simply had a look of amazement that this little, yellow ball of feathers had that much moxie. While, as Traci said, it's funny to see, it could be potentially fatal to the lovie, so best to let them have separate playtimes.
