Well, haha As the title describes, good old oscar is dearly in love with his Happy hut.. which he is showing more love for then me! It actually kind of upsets me..he hasnt acted the same since I had that stupid thing in their at nights..if I dont put it in there he looks all depressed and doesn't sleep well (I hear him fuss at night) So of course I get all guilty and put the stupid thing back in.. He used to think I was his mate.. feeding me, dancing around for me.. wanted to always being with me, and now though he still loves coming out and sitting with me, he doesnt really show the same affection he used too.. He also gets aggressive around it too.. which is very unusal for him

So what I guess I'm really saying should I remove it for good? or just leave it? I dont want him to die of a broken heart I would be devasted..

Hi Suzy;

No, don't remove the hut. It's actually better for him to be in love with the hut than for him to think that you are his mate. Birds that bond too closely with their owners sometimes develop behavioral problems, like plucking out feathers -- or, in the case of hens, laying clutch after clutch of eggs.

Best wishes,

My Molly (yes, Molly's a male) gets a cozy/happy hut in his cage and he loves it. I've never taken it away from him. He loves to play in it and with my other male Piper too. They both have cozies and play in them all the time. I don't give my females cozies except at night to keep them from getiing nesty. I'd leave things as they are. He's happy :)

There is no shame in being second best to a Happy Hut. :D
