So I was at the bookstore the other day picking up another round of textbooks for a new semester, and this book, Elsewhere in the Land of Parrots, by Jim Paul was sitting on top of the clearance rack. I always pick up something fun as my "reward' for another semester of school...and I knew this was the book. Has anyone else read it?

I'm about halfway through and IT IS SOOO GOOD!!! I highly reccommend it for anyone who has become part of a flock, by choice or by accident, as it is such a touching and important tale. I'll provide a better summary after I finish it (probably tonight). Go pick up a copy!!

Yup, so tomorrow I guess I'll be making a trip to Borders. :D Reading happens to be my favorite pasttime. Thanks so much for recommending it!

Since we are on the subject, have you ever read The Wild Parrots of Telegraph Hill by Mark Bittner? It's very good- based on the wild flock of conures that live on Telegraph Hill in San Francisco, CA. You might like that one, too.

I just added "Wild Parrots..." to my netflix list...I still haven't seen it! This book also involves the parrots of telegraph hill as part of the plot.

I can't wait to get home from work and keep reading!

No, I haven't seen it yet. But I really should get the DVD. My son would love it, too. We just rented Paulie, and he is watching that right now. I'm just waiting to hear, "Mom, can we get a blue-headed conure?"

It is a very good movie, but also very sad. Get your kleenex, but definitely a must see.

Mandy, I will also have to put that one on my list. It's been awhile, but I think I can still read:lol

Thanks for the tip, Mandy! I will definitely check that out.

Wild Parrots of Telegraph Hill was incredible, awesome and amazing. Sad but still, definitely worth the tears. I would recommend it for kids, too. Nature at its best, and worst.
