Hello!

As the title says I need to know as much as possible about lovebird copulation - about their behaviour and meaning of all those strange things that they do.

What's with the spreading wings and cheek scratching?

Thanks!

What you see going on between male and female bird prior to copulation all falls under the description of display. Just like with humans, males go through a "routine" to attract the attention of a female that has caught their eye. As he goes through his display, she will or will not send signals to him that she's interested. When the female lovebird spreads her wings and uplifts her tail feathers, it's a signal to the male that she has accepted his advances and she's ready to mate with him.
