A Birdie's Motto

Each of my birdies has a life motto, or rather, I have given them one. Something that describes to me their individual personalities, the way each of them has chosen to live their respective lives. Every day I see them display some small action that reflects these credos and it brings me closer to each one of them. I see a lot of these traits in human friends of mine as well. We really aren’t that different after all.

I wanted to share with you each of my birdies mottos and give you a chance to muse over your own birdies little quirks, and perhaps you can tell us of them here.

Theia—Don’t go to bed on the top perch if you are a sleepwalker. It’s a long way down and the journey to the floor is fraught with perils.

Nyx—Just when you think you have thoroughly exhausted every aspect of a particular topic, nope, you just discover that you have a whole lot more stuff you need to say about it.

Nerin—If you wait long enough and pray hard enough, love will flutter into your life long before you give up on it.

Nike—If you pick any corner of the birdcage and stand there long enough, every bird you have ever met in your life will walk by you. And, if you stand really still, they won’t chase you out of your corner.

Neaera—Nothing warms up cold feet better or faster than freshly baked birdy bread.

Calais—No matter how small you think you are, or how green, a kiss from your momma will make you feel ten feet tall…..and even greener.

Nereus—If someone is staring at you, you need to stare right back. Really stare, then take two quick steps forward. If they don’t stop staring, cluck like a chicken. Then they will know you mean business.

Danae—Life is full of disappointment, so if at first you don’t succeed, lay lay again…and again…and again.

Ahhh, Neaera. Oftentimes we both plunge our feet into a warm loaf of birdie bread and it just soothes our troubles away.

Shadow: The mineral block is ALWAYS sweeter in someone else's cage...

Tasha: I've never met a nestbox I didn't like, occupied or not...

Paco: You can pick your friends, and you can pick your nose - and if you are a pretty Cobalt Violet Whiteface Blue, you can sometimes pick your friend's nose...

Myst: Got any chicks in your pocket that I can feed? Huh? HUH?! DO YA?!?!

Squeak - The food dish is mine. That toy is mine. The swing? Mine. The water dish? You guessed it - mine. It's pretty much just all mine.

It took some thinking, but here goes:)

Bela-I'm a bird, I know I'm a bird, but there's nothing like a good "shoulder swishy"

Lacey-As long as you appear an angel, they will think you're an angel, and they will give you anything you want. I got this lady wrapped around my little toe;)

Cappie-She's my Mama, and you AIN'T allowed to touch her!!!!!

Little Man-Let's play. Yeah, Yeah,Yeah, Let's play(squeal!!!!!)

Trixie Bunny: What's yours is mine and whats mine is mine because thats what being a spoiled creature is all about!

Peter- I'll hang upside down until momma looks... she's gonna smile and talk JUST to me, I just know it...

Luka- I didn't poop on that, no really, I didn't poop on that! I'll just yell at you and fly over here. I didn't poop on that....

Peepo- Bites in life are best followed by kissy noises. Yep, those kissies can keep you out of some deep trouble. <kiss>

Obie: 3 baths a day keep the molting itchies away....



(she's quite the water bird, and really does have 2-3 baths a day....she showers with me in the morning, plays in the sink at lunchtime, and bathes one more time after I get home from work at the end of the day....she's been molting for a good month now, and shows no signs of slowing! SOO Many pinfeathers!!)

Hubby - the human is here! oh no!.... but there will be food... but the human is here!

both - humans are great! They open the door of the cage... just have to make sure they are always entertained... poor humans... very simple creatures... :D

Nemo: Never say no to food (no matter if it comes from scary human fingers or was really meant for Pontus but my beak came in the way)

Pontus: if life hands you lemons make som lemonade (although her wording would probably be: If auntie Gloria hands you toys make some nesting material :rolleyes:)

Bubblan: Never fly slow when you can fly fast (and mock-dive bomb unwary mamma and pappa)

Pidget: Mi casa no es su casa (and I will bite to prove it)

Elmo: He who talks loudest and browbeats the most wins (worded as He who screams loudest and deafens the most wins :x )

Piccolo: A thing of beauty (clearly me) is a joy forever (and thus should be automatically forgiven for chewing up mammas wallpaper).

Daisy: I'm momma's sweet girl and I feel sorry for myself when I don't get my way. And no, I am not a nosey girl and I'm not fussy. Nope, I'm not. :p

Piper: See how fast I can fly? Zoom-zoom. I fly to momma cause she belongs to me. She's mine, mine, mine, mine, mine :D
