I'm getting ready to have three weeks off from college do to christmas break. I'm looking forward to using this time to work with Cooper intensively on our bond. Does anyone have suggestions as to how they perfer to work on bonding with a new bird? I've heard that shutting yourself in a room alone with the bird away from it's cage is a good start. He's coming out regularly from his cage and climbs into my lap at times and hangs out. Do you think he's ready for this step based on his behavior? I worry about pushing him to hard and damaging his lil psychie. lol My friends laugh at me constantly trying to read his behavior and judge what he's ready for. Any way what do you all think? What other suggestions might you have for good bonding exercises? hmmmmmm? :D

Teri,

To bond with mine, I do take them to a bedroom, away from their cage. Do make sure whatever room you take Cooper to has been made birdie safe first though. Cover mirrors, block off anything that he could fall behind, get stuck in, etc..... Once there, just spend time with him. Let him wander around, climb on you, and talk to him, interact with him, and cheep when he cheeps. The bonding process is basically you becoming part of his flock. Since Cooper is a single birdy, you are his flock, and the time and love you give him will achieve the bond:)

Have a good break:D
