View Full Version : Screeching Dicky Bird
I have been very patient with Dicky's hormonal thing (head bobbing clucking etc.) but now he is screeching all the time unless his cage is covered at night. When I let him out he is fine for about 10 seconds and then runs at me and bites. I just want my sweet bird back. Would the screeching stop if I got him a friend or am I asking for trouble and will it stop in time. Will clipping his wings help? I just want him to be happy again. JoJo

JoJo,
Where is Dicky's cage? If it's not where he feels part of the action, this may be why he's screeching nonstop.
When birds screech for long periods, they are usually trying to tell you something. I know it's a hit or miss, but you need to find out why he's doing this. Try moving his cage for starters, and see if it helps. You can also try leaving a radio on low for him so interaction noise.
I'm sure you'll get more ideas, but you'll figure it out:)
I moved his cage to the living room where all the action is. It's like he's a spoiled puppy who just wants to be with me all the time. If he sees me or hears me it's worse. J

Sounds like there is some pent-up hostility there!
When he charges at you, try rolling a jingle bell cat toy to him. When he learns, he can chase it and toss it and get rid of some of that anger.
There are many here on the site who would love a velcro lovie!!
