I have a baby lovebird, about 6 wks old. I've been handfeeding him for 3 1/2 weeks now, every 4 hours, and love him very much. On the other hand, my husband, who all but forbade me to get the bird, and calls him stupid bird, is number one in my lovies' eyes!!! My feelings are hurt!! I'm the one putting all the energy into this relationship, but when my husband is in the room, the bird seeks him out and flies to him!!! What's up with that??? :(

He's longer???
So tell me, is your husband starting to enjoy this attention? Maybe your bird (what is his name?) is trying to win him over.
My Mango loves my fiance, much to my daughter's dismay and total irritation. He will do whatever he can to get to Rob. We say it is because Mango likes to nest down Rob's shirt in his chest hair! Sometimes birds prefer one sex over another.
Sounds like you just may have to --- here it comes ---- get your self another bird!!!;)

Hmmm,
Ever consider getting a pet rattlesnake?
Seriously, hang in there, lovies can be fickle. I have a wonderful cat. She likes any man that is around. I don't know why - I don't even like them, but she does. Go figure! And I'm the one who feeds and cleans the litter pan... so I feel your pain.

I HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM.I am the one feeding him, keeping his cage clean take him out everyday to play. But as soon as my husband walks in the room he is GONE:lol.Even when he hears my husbands voice he starts wistling(the songs we taught him) to get out of his cage.
Now that we have Kc i know that the same is going to happen. My husband will be the favourite AGAIN  .

Kiwi is firmly velcro-bonded to both me and my 16 year old son, and day by day he goes back on forth on who his favorite is that day. At least once a day, he also works on my older son, (Victor) who says he doesn't like Kiwi. Sooooooooo, Kiwi is now on a mission to bring Victor into the flock. He will fly to him often, asking him for kisses, trying to preen him, and telling him in no uncertain terms to get with the program and join the lovie team!!! (of course, this is through a range of chirps that definitely sound like he is both sweet talking and yelling him at the same time  )
Try not to worry too much about who your lovie goes to - it's still early in your relationship and things will evolve over time. Personally, I like the fact the Kiwi will go to everyone in my house. However, I do reserve a little quiet snuggle time at night just for myself. ;)

At my house we refer to it as the 'Disneyland Dad Syndrome'. All of my animals love my dad because he is the one who only does 'fun' stuff with them. He isnt the one who disciplines, cleans, takes them to the vet etc. He just goofs around with them and they think he is the best.
I know what you mean when you feel like your bird is a bit ungrateful, but it is true about birds being fickle, and before you know it your baby will be occupied with something or someone else. As hard as it is to figure out, dont take it personally. Birds live in the moment so try not to read too much in to the emotional aspect of why he is smitten with your husband. Soon, the hormones will be kicking in, and your bird will be pre-occupied with other things. Never a dull moment with a lovebird in the house!

Scooter is pretty nice with everyone, but he does prefer my boyfriend Eric whenever he is around. He will fly to another room if he hears him. The weird thing is, he has given Eric, and only Eric, a few good pecks if I am in the room. He hasn't really bitten anyone else. He also struts for Eric and fans out his feathers. It is hard to tell whose side he is on!
