This morning I attempted to eat cereal in front of the birds. Not a good idea!
They are not used to me eating breakfast. However, I'm having to take antibiotics for a little while, which must be taken with food. Hence the quick bowl of cereal. I took out the bowl and put it on the counter.
Birds ran down my arm and hopped onto the rim of the bowl. They looked in the empty bowl, then up at me, then back at the bowl.
Oh - gotcha. Bath. So I picked up the bowl, birds still perched on the side, filled it up with water, and put it back down on the counter. Got a second bowl for cereal while birds made a big splashing mess on the counter.
And people wonder how we manage to go through so many bowls in a week....

Nope. You learn to eat fast in my house, if you don't want to have "help" while you eat.

He he he.
Mango also loves cereal bowls...for the cereal. He runs back and forth in his cage every morn until he gets his two scoops. Actually, he is a cheerios nut. For him, bowl = cereal. Unfortunately, he prefers his cheerios dunked in milk...he will go for those every time, even though I put out some cheerios just for him on the table...

haha, I actually CANNOT have Tango out, while I'm eating, anything, at all, I can't keep him away from my food, he could have the exact same thing (without the stuff we humans use to make it tasty that are bad for our birdies of course) in his treat bowl on his gym, a foot away from my plate, and he has to have mine, can't keep him off my plate, also can't keep him of the key board, zippers of any kind, buttons, the strings that run through the hood of my sweatshirt....the list goes on and on and oooonnnnnnn.
Come to think of it, maybe it has nothing to do with it being my FOOD, and everything to do with it being something that's MINE, that I'd prefer he didn't chew on.........

Oh, I thought rule #1 was
"I am Alphabird and I rule the roost"

The lovebirds in my house are not that bad when it comes to sharing our food. The one I have a problem with is Max (CAG). Do not stand between him and food. One night the cat was lying on the couch between Dan and I and he went get himself some grapes to munch on. Max was busy getting scritches but when he saw what Dan had, he started running towards him, wings open, screaming "Wahhh!" on his way towards the cat, took a bite out of the cat, screamed "Wahhh!" to shoo her away and made it to the grapes.
We have to be extra cautious when we eat and the poor cat is around. She is definitely taking a beating from Max.

Jennifer,
That is cute, and of course we all completely understand. In my house, it's not so much a cereal bowl, as it's just turning on the water. Running water always means bath time doesn't it???? Yep, they seem to think so:rolleyes:
Rule #1 in my house is, "We come first" the birds that is:lol

Same here. And you don't even want to hear the squawking if his veggies are late or I'm not here at bedtime!

Scooter is the same way. He won't eat what is in his treat dish, he won't eat his share if it comes from my plate, but isn't on it. Everything is on his terms and that means what is mine. Watch out for the zippers though. Scooty is recovering from heavy-metal poisoning. Apparently jewelry, and I have to assume zippers too, can be a potential source.
