Petting?

I would love to pet my babies but for some reason, it's never been introduced. Maybe I was so busy trying to keep them from biting me when they hit puberty that I forgot to introduce petting?

The only way I can think of introducing it is to dim the light a lot, have them snuggling against my shirt and try petting one at a time. Are there any other tricks for this?

It's not necessary but I'd like it and I also don't want them to associate my touch with being restrained (wing clipping, meds, vet, etc.).

I always try using a sprig of millet before I use my fingers. I've also tried having them close to my face and giving them a nose to beak or nose to cheek kiss while I talk softly to them. Sometimes I can get a little back petting or scritch around their head. Good luck - it just takes a while.:)
