Hi Again,

Finally…. Monday I got my cage, which I ordered online and that gave me the green light to go pick up my two new Lovebirds. I made the cage ready to move them in and I have to tell you, they love it. They enjoy every single toy and perch and to my surprise, they are absolutely into my selfmade coconuttoy and their "HappyHut" that I did sew for them. Thanks guys...hehe. Last night around 10pm they snuggelt up against each other and didn't wake up until 8:30 this morning. I guess they had a good time cuddleing up in their HappyHut.

My progress with switching their food is moving along pretty good. They eat a lot and make such a mess  They looooove spray millet.... But I don't want to give too much of it.... other 'stuff' like vegetable is much more important, right? By my surprise their wings are clipped. I plan on growing them out, because I like the thought of them flying around in my huge livingroom and just have fun. I don't expact of them to get handtame birds, I take them as they come, just cute, precious and adorable.

I studie 24/7 their behavior and try to figure out every move they make. So far they are very good to each other. A few times you can watch them fight over a toy or the 'best spot'. I guess thats pretty normal, isn't it? Otherwise they eat together, they follow each other everywhere, they preen each other, they play together like maniacs and cuddle a good amount of time.

Since I don't know their sexes yet, I didn't choose on any names. I already ordered free DNA kits to send some feathers. I hope I have a boy and a girl :)
I have a few names in mind, but will wait for the DNA results.

Yesterday I made the first pics of my two BlueMasked Lovebirds, but because I don't have a Digital Cam I had to use my Cellphone. The quality is not the best, but for know it's just fine  I hope you enjoy them and would love to hear any advise on how to be the best Lovebirdmom.

Anja,

They are just precious, and I can tell you are so happy to have them there. They are some lucky fids to have been chosen by you. You've done your research. You were totally prepared to bring them home, and all you want to do is love them, and spoil them rotten. Like I said, lucky fids:)

Anja, they are gorgeous! Welcome to this forum. I hope that you enjoy your time here as much as I have. There is just so much good information and wonderfully knowledgeable people to talk to. You have provided a spacious home with lots of stimulating toys for them to play with. They must be loving their new home with you. Are you able to hold them yet?

PS Did your breeder tell you that your lovebirds are not related?

Hi Cathy,

actually I got my birds from a pet store and I don't know if they are related. I don't want to breed, so it doesn't matter if they are, does it? I wasn't able to hold them yet and I don't think they want me to. But thats fine with me, I still enjoy them so much. Time will show if they want more from me ;) And NOT, if I want more from them.

Oooooh pretty birdies! And they have a really nice cage :). I have a blue mask myself (I have 5 green ones also). His name is Bubblan and he looks a lot like your birdies.

Congrats on your new lovies and good luck with everything!
