Hey everyone had to break up my clutch tonight. Rica (momma was going after the babies all the time. I put the kids in a seperate cage) the one I truely feel sorry for is lolo (daddy) he's very torn. I thought i'd let the kids sleep alone tonight, and in the morning (when we leave for work) put dad in with them.Any advice? baby 1 is pushing 7weeks and the other 2 are a few days behind. all eatting on their own but still "clutch" together. The cage is a lot smaller then the one they are used too, but they really were becoming petrified of "Mrs Daucet"(Sybils mother, if anyone remembers) one minute shes loving them , the next, well........ its 8 30 ny time will chk any advice you have to offer, later. Grandpa needs to relax and watch American Idol Tax guys Chris:confused:

Chris,
You did exactly the right thing! Momma Rica most likely wants to go back to nest and she wants the babies gone! If they refuse to do what she wants, she could seriously injure one or all of them. They will be fine in their own cage tonight and if you let dad stay with them tomorrow, he will continue to teach them to eat on their own. For the next couple of weeks, dad is going to be split between mom and babies. The babies have him during the day and mom can have him at night.
Go enjoy American Idol. I'm also listening as I feed/water my crew! :)

I had to separate Miss Lemon when she started plucking babies really badly. She did not seem to miss Poirot much, nor he her, so I just kept him in with the babies until they were weaned.

Well....Lo was happy to be put in with the kids this morning, but when i was leaving for work he and Rica were staring at each other from seperate cages, it was sad, but she brought it on herself. Just feel bad cause the second cage is much smaller, less toys etc.

Chris, is momma in the smaller cage? If so, it might be good for her to have a chancge of scenery to get her mind and body off of starting another clutch.
