i feel kind of dumb asking this, but how do you guys pull quotes from someone else's post and apply it to your post??

Hi Robyn,
There are several ways to do it, depending on what you want to quote. If you want to quote then entire message, simply hit the "quote" button in the message you want to quote from. If you get too much, you can always edit out what you don't want.

I do it a bit differently, simply because I'm used to HTML coding. I highlight what I want to quote and then hit reply. In the new window, I type
and then do Ctrl + V to paste my quote into the new message. At the end of the quote, I add [*/quote] to end my quote and continue to type my message. You will need to remove the * from [*/quote] or it won't work. I added it just so you could see what I'm trying to say. For me, this is the easiest way, as I'm used to coding.

If you look at the bottom right-hand corner of the post box you should see a button that says "Quote" Hit that instead of "reply" when you want to post something and it will automatically copy their response into your post. You can trim down the parts of it that you don't want, just make sure that the tags (the things inside the brackets) and the brackets don't get erased :)

or

you can highlight what you want to quote, hit "Reply" and then click the little button that looks like a dialog box (just about where you type your reply) Then paste what you copied, and viola! Their words are in your post in a little quote box.

The first way will give you "soandso said: blablablah" the second will just give you "blablablah."

Dumb? Are you kidding me!!!!! It took me a year of guidance to figure out how to do that! :D This is what *I* do: I click on quote under the members reply that I want to quote. The entire post will come up in the reply screen, all ready for you to add your own message under it. Now if I only want to quote one sentence or a couple of sentences instead of the entire thread, They I highlight and hit delete on every thing I don't want to be in the quote. Be careful that you leave this,
at the end and this,
at the beginning and only delete parts "inside" of that unless you're wanting to quote the whole thread. Gosh, I hope that makes sense. I know that I had to PM Lori, Jackie, Shy and several others trying to figure out how to do that stuff! Getting photos on the first time took about 12 hours!

HA! Now I see that you have a son! That is a life saver when trying to learn computer stuff if they will give you 5 minutes of their precious time. I always threaten my two and it usually works! ;)

Janie,

thanks for the tips!!! First I will perfect just getting the quote in the right place, and then when I feel confident, after a few years, I will try editing them.

I have 2 sons, 20 and 17, and they could have figured it out in a sec. However, showing me how to do, well, they don't seem to care that I gave BIRTH to them. Actually, that might work, I will tell them about my labour, " YOU WERE 9 1/2 LBS!!!!!! " (true) and they will get so grossed out they will do anything to get me to shut up :p

Now for posting pics......................... next year.:(

LABOR, that is enough....they owe you for life, IMHO! :D I had a 9.1 pounder and one just under 9 pounds and I'll never let them forget that! I do believe in threats and especially when it comes to teaching me how to do something on this *&^%$ computer or taking care of my lovebirds! ;)

I agree, they owe you for life  Dang, I was only 6 lbs and my mother is smaller than you and they almost did a c-section on her.
