everytime i have the birds out, trying to get them back in the cage is a pain in the butt. tonight when i was putting them back to go to bed, Juliet was on the door and i looked at her and said "time for bed get in your cage" and she jumped right in. Romeo then flew over and landed on my arm and ran up and gave me a kiss :) then ran into the cage. In less than a mintue they were both in there cage. Yippee they are getting better about bedtime. lol:clap: Hopefully it will stay this way.

It's times like those when you have to think to yourself... Ok, what did I do this time that caused that?

Ah, the mind games that lovies play....

Yep,

Those times are few and far between in my house. It seems nobody ever wants to go back in their cage. Of course, a little millet spray seems to do the trick;)

Enjoy the moment, it may never come again. Just teasing, it will happen, but of course, only when they want it to:lol

Fortunately I don't have that problem with Ditto. I just walk over to the cage and say, "hop on in", and he does.

Anything he does wrong? Well from reading all the stuff lovies do, I'd say he's got being a lovebird wrong!

Its 50/50 here folks. 50% of the time after I beg Goof cuz I'm tired or have waited until 8:30, Goofs bedtime is at 8, to finally eat supper cuz sometimes I eat things he shouldn't and he always has to taste whatever I'm eating. After he nods off about 5 times, each time skillfully running up my arm and behind my back where I can't gets him each time I attempt to put him in his cage. He'll even go so far as to crawl under my shirt and give kissies in hopes that I don't put him back. Usually he can't last past 9:pm. I thought about making his bed time at 9 but then I'm sure he's smart enough to push it till 10. Whats a bird owner to do? Really it is so funnycute to see what he'll think of next. I've already had to take my shirt off to get him only to have him stay in my shirt! Now thats desperate! The other 50% he wants to go back only now because he had a good wing clipping he go's down my leg, runs across the room to his home and won't be quiet until I put him in. For the life of me I never thought I'd be hanging out with a lovebird capable of such silly antics. UH OH, Its past goofy's bedtime. Take care everyone......Goofy N' Michael

Most of the time Widgie's on me, so getting him to the cage is easy. I just pick him up and hold him in front of his food bowl! Course, sometimes he decides he doesn't want to go back so he sits between my shoulder blades. I've gotten pretty good at grabbing him from there! :p Then he holds on to my clothes with his beak until I pry him off. After THAT, though, it's really pretty easy!

It's easy to get my birds to go in their cage at bedtime. They have a smaller, sleeping cage with a cozy cave in it. They don't get a cozy during the day or Melody will shred her toys and build a nest in it.

So at night they are very excited to go and snuggle up in the cozy. They go right to bed. :)

Getting them to go in their cage during the day is another story altogether...

I am not even gonna bother teaching my lovies to go in their cage on command. They all know when it's time to go into their cages, and they make dashes in every which way to avoid this event. It's become a game for them, 'birdie laugh at Mommy while she tries and fails to catch us!'. It's all good, I have my little step ladder waiting in the corner, and I have now become a Master Lovebird Catcher!!! I don't even get bit by the worst biters of the bunch!!!

I don't know how some of you members can manage so many birds. I would end up with an eye out, missing teeth, and most likely a broken leg! Not to mention a flock of hysterically laughing birds. I think I'll stick with one for a little while yet.....Michael N' Goof

   that's exactly what kiwi does. most of the time, he hops right back in, but when i am in a hurry - then he decides to climb down my back, right where i can't reach him, clings for dear life with his beak so that i have to pry him off. if he is really determined, once i place him in the cage, he climbs back out my sleeve and makes a run for it!!! :lol

like michael said, i think i'll stick to one bird for now!!!! :rotfl:

:rotfl: Mine does that too! He's gotten good at running across the floor if he's playing in front of the mirror and such and I try to get him before he's done. They're quicker than you think, even running!! :omg: :D
