My slate masked lovie Haku has changed so much in the past few weeks... he has gone from shrinking into the corners of the cage to hanging from his toys and beating them all up. He is still afraid of my hands, but will accept a perch, and enjoys coming out of his cage every once in awhile and exploring. He doesn't sit all sad and nervous on his perch anymore, he is all full of energy and is always bouncing around!!:rotfl: At first i truly believed that I had a timid, fearful little bird on my hands, but now i realize i have a little bird with a huge parrot personality in him, and i just love seeing him play and climb and chirp and be happy. he has a 'friend', a wild little brown dove who comes to visit him. I rescued the little dove as a baby when he fell from his nest, and now he is like our wild pet, he comes every day and eats and chirps at Haku. Like Evie, my Amazon, Haku has developed a real passion for string beans:rofl:which is a big triumph for me because i am overjoyed that he is eating something other than seed!! Right now Haku is swinging happily in a little wicker basket, and munching on pasta. I realize that perseverance is really key, and i am looking forward to years of friendship and happiness with my two beautiful parrots!!>o
