Real quick question, what does everybody use to clean the inside of the cage, not major take it out in yard cleaning, just the wipe down in the cage when you change the newspaper at night.Got six now, and Murphy oil isn't cutting it. Any suggestions? Chris

Can't really beat soap, water, and a scrub brush for regular cleaning. In between however, I sometimes use Chlorox wipes as long as it can dry before the birds get close to it.

I have always used "Poop-Off" wipes. I know Janie uses them too. You can clean everything bird related and it's bird safe. I wipe the cages down with my birds in the cage. It also comes in a spray bottle. I use a lot of it. Great stuff! Here's a link to Drs Foster & Smith - they sell it. I buy it at the birdfairs.

Hi Chris,
Like Jackie (and Janie) I use Poop Off. I have a big spray bottle that I spray and wipe the poop off. My boys are particularly good at pooping on the bars on the bottom, in a pile!:lol :x So I spray it on the little piles and let it soak for a second and it all comes right off.

Before getting poop off I used soap & water. That worked fine, too. But the Poop Off requires less scrubbing.

I use GSE(grapefruit extract). You mix about 20 drops per spray bottle with water, spray, and wipe down. It works well for those in between big cleaning jobs, and is very economical too:)

Chris, I wish I owned stock in poop-off wipes! :lol I LOVE 'em!!! An 80 ct. container is $7.00 at a bird fair and $12 (yikes) at my favorite retail bird store but I just found them in my favorite wild bird store, too for $9.00. I asked the owner WHY he's selling poop-off wipes in a wild bird store! :D He also sells millet spray after realizing that several of his backyard bird customers also have pet parrots. I do stock up on them when I go to a bird fair. The poop-off spray is fine but would take me much longer to use so I don't use that unless I'm taking cages out on the back deck for cleaning. Like Lori, I also use the GSE as a rinse after I've done a major cleaning outside. I use GSE (drops mixed with a major amt. of water) if I'm washing their water/food bowls by hand. Wash with soap and water, rinse and spray with GSE mixture and then rinse like crazy.

All and all, I couldn't live w/o my poop-off wipes! :D Wish I'd thought of manufacturing that product!

Everytime I see Janie at a birdfair she buy's about 4 or more containers. Heck, she needs to buy a case and get it out of her system :lol It is good stuff though
