Too many parakeets in wild

Saw the news this morning re these parakeets threating our native birds in London. D.E.F.R.A. is looking into this to see how they can stop them. I found the source where it was reported. from the Express.

If it is found to they are causing a huge problem to our birds, i think the kindest solution is to do what they do in here in s/west with the seagulls, is to coat the eggs with oil. I just hope they do their research extremely throughly, before taking drastic action.

Wow! Very similar to what's happened here in the states with Quaker parrots. There's no really simple answer to the issue. Of course, maybe if they could capture them all, they could live with you Cassy? :lol
When I first saw the topic, I thought, "how could a little parakeet be considered a pest?" but when I saw that big red beak, I realized it's a BIG parakeet.
