Hey all i currently haev 6 peach faced lovebirds 1 is a year old the others are 2-4 months old. I was wondering what kind of noises The Fischer and the Masked lovebirds make? Are they quiter or louder then the peach faced? Or are there calls and cahtter the same? I have intrested in buying masks or fischers later on and was wondering really what they sound like....also are handfed babies as tame as peachie babies?

I love the sound of my masked fids. I think they have a slightly deeper, richer sound. My Dutch blues sound more shrill. My green peachies have a nice tone, too, though. As a rule, masked are a little more skiddish than peachies and some masks can be ruthless and untouchable. Mine have taken longer to train and been a challenging at times, but they are sweethearts in their own right. Hope that helps some.:)

I was thinking about making a tape of my masks yesterday. Little Elmo was a giving a concert and most all of the other 5 were singing backup and it was as loud as it gets at my house :x . However time's not been my friend this weekend.
I have read that masks are not quite as shrill as peachies, but I've never owned peachies so I don't have personal experience to back what I've read like Deb has. There's a park near my house where there are two aviaries, one with peachies and one with masks. Both ny husband and I think that the peachies sound louder, but since it is outdoors and the masks are just a few meters away, it's difficult to say for sure. As I write this my masks seem to be intent on proving to the world that they are every bit as loud as any peachie ever was, but to be fair, besides Elmo who is very loud, the others are reasonably quiet, but right now it's their usual midday out of cage time. I've got to hurry.

 My fischers and masks are MUCH quieter, except when they get excited! I've found both have very similar calls, which tend to be more clicky sounding, rather than chirpy.

I have a peach-faced and he's not very loud most of the time. On the other hand, my mom has a masked and he's SHRILL and he never shuts up!

I can tell the difference between my fisher and my peachie. Even though they use the same calls, my fisher is a pitch higher than my peachie. My budgie learned lovebird. His screams are really in between and not as loud. Dedicated little Kio! :rotfl:

My peachie lived with a budgie in the cage next to him until this spring (when sadly, the budgie died of old age).
Now my silly lovie sounds like a budgie. He makes the budgie chirps and calls, and he does the "angry budgie noise". Do you know what I mean by the angry budgie noise? It's that low-pitched, monotone screech-thing. Very loud.
I was wondering if anyone else's lovie does the classic angry-budgie-noise like mine does. I'm pretty sure he picked it up from the budgie but I suppose there's always the possibility that lovies have that innate angry noise too.

We only have a single masked. Quieter than peachies, I feel sorry for the peach owners. And since there aren't any other bird noises to pick she finds others to do. Alarm clock is a particularly lovely sound :x but laughing is contagious and Cooper has picked up my giggle quite well! Sooo cute and we just end up "giggling" at eachother.

One peachies isn't *that* bad... Beetle (PF) does have a shrill call that can be heard from outside of the apartment but he doesn't make noise all the day long.
I've read that the Fischer's call is a bit on the shrill side, which to me means it would be higher pitched but not necessarily loud. To be honest, I've not really heard the vocalization of masked and Fischer's lovebirds, save from the random chirp on a clip from YouTube.
Browyn -- you MUST get a clip of you and Cooper giggling at each other! That's hilarious :)
