Okay so basically I have had my new lovie, Otis, for a little over a week.. He is still very psychotic in coming out of his cage and if you put your hand up to him he will fly away and if you pursue your attempts then he starts flying all over the place and even clinging to the roof sometimes, once he is out he often flies to my pillows on my bed.. Otis is a very fast runner, it's hilarious to watch and listen to.. If he's on my carpet and I go to pick him up you can hear his little feet plodding along very fast.. But the problem is that he is still wayyyy scared of my hand and fingers, and bites like nothing else! I know patience is the key, but i'd just like some quick and easy tips to get me started. He's fairly okay with sitting on my shoulder.. Infact he is fine with me and my face, my shoulder, my stomach.. Anything but my hands, he just thinks my hands are here to hurt but obviously they're here for there opposite!

Get his wings clipped. A clipped lovebird is easier to train than an unclipped one. His flight feathers will grow back, clipping the wings doesn't hurt your bird. There are instructions with pictures in the Resource Library. It's easier to do with 2 people. You can go the vet to get it done (this is what I did the first few times). Some pet stores will do it as well, if you call ahead of time.

Good luck!

Yeah, his wings are clipped, I got them clipped before I brought him home, when I said he flies over I meant he hovers over, however i've noticed that for birds without their flight feathers, they still seem to be powerful flyers.
