Ok, I've never needed it before as I haven't had any real issues with bugs, but all of a sudden this horrific infestation of flies appeared. No one locally carries Camicide, so I had to order it; from a place in Georgia! :omg: Anyway, it's being delivered today and I can't wait to get home and kill bugs; however I have a question. I know everything I've read about it; that it can be used right in a nestbox and cage, however I am concerned about spraying it to kill the bugs. Is it alright to spray on the ceiling without removing cages or should I relocate everyone temporarily?

I love Camicide! I buy a gallon a year. I spray it all over my house and it never bothers my birds. I've even sprayed it right in the birdroom. If you can, open or crack a window so the smell isn't over powering. I usually spray the inside of my house and then use the good stuff from HomeDepot and spray the outside. I usually don't have many problems with bugs. Only in the summer with the zillion ants (I HATE ANTS!!) we get in Georgia. Since you are spraying the ceiling, maybe cover the cages a bit with a sheet or something. :2cents:

MJ,
Camacide is a wonderful thing for killing creepy crawly pests quickly! I actually accidentally sprayed on of my lovebirds on its back (long story) and it didn't harm the bird in any way. The only problem with Camacide is that it doesn't leave any residue to kill any bugs that come in later. If I want to kill any bugs that may come in later, I use something called Camacide House & Garden. I only use it away from my birds (outside of my aviary and on outside window sills), as this one is not quite so safe to use around birds! Where ever I spray it, bugs that try to cross the barrier will die for about the next 2 months or until rain washes it away.

Linda,

Where do you get the Camicide House & Garden? I've only seen the other I can use in my birdroom.

So NEXT TIME, come to GA and get it!!!!!!!!! :D MJ, I spray it in the bird room which is only 12 X 14 and if the weather is nice, I open the windows but if not, I spray it with the windows closed and the birds right there in the room. I've used it for the last year when necessary.

After reading last year that Linda accidently sprayed it on one of her birds and that the bird was OK, I figured it has to be safe. :D Many vendors sell it at the bird fairs here and like Jackie, I also buy the gallon size. I just had a huge ant problem in my kitchen and after all was said and done, the Camicide did the trick....NOT my exterminator or the products that I bought at Ace Hardware to kill the ants! That stuff is da bomb!

Linda, thanks for the tip about the house and garden spray! I'll try some of that to use in non birdie areas!

So NEXT TIME, come to GA and get it!!!!!!!!! :D

  Janie, I actually bought it from Jeanette. Trying to support the board members ya know. ;)

I'm glad it works really well because I only like one type of "creature" to be flying around in my house. Got to see if the wholesaler I buy seed from will bring it in for me, so I don't have to pay all that shipping!

I'm going to bump this up because i'd like to get my little hands on some as well.

By the way, I was like a serial killer with the Camicide in the house. Maniacal laughter as i watched flies drop to the ground.

I get it from Smelt Feed Supply in Tampa. If you want to order some, I can give you a phone number and they will gladly ship it to you. Unfortunately, they don't have a website, although they do quite well without one! :lol

I've read that it's unsafe for reptiles & fish. So...can we assume it safe for rabbits? I would think so.
