*gulp* :omg: :omg:
I actually today banded chick No 1. It was the most scariest thing i have done, (more so as no feeling in right hand and fingers.) Whether Miss Lemon lets it stay on is another matter. But i did it. I wont be banding *LUNA* But if egg no 3 does hatch i have another go at banding that 1. I was so scared of hurting the little 1. but have checked on No 1 chick and all seems fine. Blood supply as not been cut off. so i think i pat myself on the back. Phew. i rather cut my cats claws that do that again. ( but will have to if no 3 hatches. i wont get them mixed up then.)

I'm getting ready to do that for the first time too...... Really nervous lol. But where is the best place to get bands at? And what do you put on the bands(that's kinda a dumb question i'm sure). Is it just breeder info or parents?? I have a huge outdoor aviary and i would like to put my phone number on there at least in case we get a freak storm and something crazy happens and they get out.
Congrats on your first banding!!

Congrats on your first banding!!
Many breeders get their bands at L& M Legbands, out of California. You might call them first however as the last time I ordered band, they were 8 weeks backordered. Also in California is DL Products http://dlproductsca.com/
they make stainless legbands.
Generally the information on the leg band is Aviary or breeder name (AAA) the year (00) and a 3-4 digit code for chick # and the abbbreviation for state. However I've seen legbands with all sorts of stuff on them. I had a Quaker who's legband read "I LUV YOU". :lol So, I'd imagine if you wanted a phone number on the band, they could accomodate it.
Cassy, congrats on putting the legband on. It can be trying and those little toes can curl up tight on you. ;)

The worse thing about banding chick, it kept constantly wriggling.
And seeing as i got no feeling in fingers, it was doubly hard trying to gauge if i was holding and putting the band on gently. Must have done as it didnt squeek out of pain. Phew.!!

Well done Cassy. Let's hope Miss Lemon lets chicky keep it.
