I have been living in the apartment I am in now for a year and never seen any bugs besides a few ants when we first moved in. Last night I was brushing my teeth when something caught my eye... it was a HUGE cockroach!! I had some ant spray left over from when we moved in and killed it but now I am really freaked out cause when there is one there are sure to be more! I know I could very easy call the office and have someone come out and spray but I'm worried about Daisy. Do they use stuff thats safe on birds or should I take matters in my own hands and use the Camicide?? And if I do go out and buy it does it just spray and kill the bug or can I spray it everywhere and avoid this from happening again? I have never had to deal with anything like this before.. I have never even seen a cockroach until I moved here to Texas!! ACK!!!!>:  :(

I would spray with the Camicide. Products used by the consumers are usually dangerous for birds. Camicide is the only product I know to be safe. Camicide doesn't leave a residue so it doesn't work like other bug sprays.
If what you saw was about 2 1/2 - 3 inches long, it could be what's commonly called a "Palmetto Bug" or "Water Bug". We get them here too. Warning - they can fly  Found that out when I tried to kill one with a broom & high-heel shoes once - long story

ohh wait I just read your post again and so if It doesn't leave a residue there is no way to control it from happening again???

Sounds like what you saw is a Palmetto bug! Yes, they are roaches, but supersized!! Disgusting creatures, but we have tons of them in FL.
The most effective way to control roaches is with "bait." Feed them well using peanut butter laced with boric acid and you won't see them again. Diatomaceous Earth is very effective against them, as well. You can put a trail of it all around your baseboards and behind electrical outlet plates. DE works by lacerating the underside of the roach so that it dies from fluid loss.
Hey, I live in FL! Like Texas, we have all sorts of creepy crawly creatures that want to share our living space!!!
