Oh Cassy, she looks marvellous!!! Pretty baby she is and she'll be completley feathered in no time. Her tailfeathers look like they are turquoise and should stay that way.
Sorry you aren't feeling well and hope you are better soon. :grouphug:

You shouldn't have to DNA sex Baldilocks! Genetically, you have a female. Baldilocks is an American Cinnamon Green and dad is the one carrying the gene. Miss Lemon is a Green Peachie so the pair could not produce a male cinnamon baby. She sure is cute! :)

Awww no, was hoping it be a male for Little Legs.
Oh heck, am going to have to get the girls to start getting used to little baldilocks. Fingers crossed they will take to her.
Poor legs, all on his own still.
Miss Lemon is now retired, No More Eggs for that Young lady.
Yup Bellarains altho baldilocks squashed Little Luna, i have got close to her, as Miss Lemon did at times really hurt the poor thing, when she was err over plucking/preeing, why i pulled Miss Lemon.
She is a little character, but still loves her daddy.

Maybe Legs will have to have a girlfriend!
Umm not sure that possible is it? they all from same parents. Poor little legs, he such a sweety, the girls flirt with him, by throwing the ball at him, or show off by pushing the ball along the side of the cage.
Will have to ask Linda, if i can put Baldilocks in with Legs. Funny how Baldilocks is such a different colour to the other children. I deffo know that Mr and Mrs Poriot never played away.

Do ask Linda if Baldilocks can go in with Legs. It might be better than adding another hen to Gladrags and Arwen who get along pretty nicely together (unusual for hens). I can't see any harm in keeping the 2 of them together though if they did try to breed I don't think you could allow any eggs to hatch.

Baldilocks could go in with her brother and even if they did eventually breed it shouldn't be an issue. You simply wouldn't want their offspring to breed together. The way Linda originally explained it to me (in terms my brain could understand) is that siblings are really only half related. I try not to breed siblings together purposely, except in one case; where I was looking for a certain mutation and everything worked out fine.
The only issue I'd imagine is that sometimes and older bird has a hard time accepting a younger bird in it's territory. You'd definitely need time for proper introductions to see if they would be compatible, even as just roommates and not a "pair".

All i know is, Bella never let Miss lemon sit on any Eggs she laid after, Legs, Gladrags and Arwen was born, (not sure how old they are, Bella did tell me, but i forgot. ) Why i couldnt understand why Baldilocks is such a different colour to her brother, sisters and Parents,I thought she turn out the same.
Why i let her have the eggs, so Legs could have a Little Brother. Miss Lemon is 5 years old and Baldilocks is her 2nd hatch of eggs out of 8. So there must be a good few years in between her very 1st clutch.
I always thought siblings could never mate, because of possible Gentic faults.
Well keep fingers cross Legs does take to her. *gulp* Baldilocks as met them, when we have our social time, i take her to the cages so other birds get used to chick being around.

Legs, Gladrags and Arwen were hatched in 2004 so were 3 at the end of May.
Incidentally, Poirot and Miss Lemon will be 5 on Friday this week. I don't know their exact age so 15th June is designated as their birthday by means of educated guesswork!
I think the problem with allowing Baldilocks and Legs to have babies would be that I do not know if Poirot and Miss Lemon are related. If they are, then I imagine this would increase the risk of trouble if Legs and Baldilocks produced young.
Let's hope they get along. It would be nice for Legs to have some company.
