Flapjack

Hi guys. Just found out that one of Jack's sisters died this morning. My brother-in-law gave her to a friend at the same time I got Flapjack. They are now 6 mos old. The guy seemed to really care, and listen to all we told him about what to do and not do with a bird in the house. Throughout the last 6 mos, my brother-in-law would notice little things, like toxic plants in the house, the bird landing in the dog food bowl, candles etc., and he would explain to the guy, to educate him, and though he said he would pay more attention, and we thought he had removed the dangers, he seemed to be a little on the defensive side.
This morning, Greg went to give the guy a ride to work, and he actually asked Greg to bring a syringe because "I don't think she's getting enough water and she hasn't eaten for awhile"! Prior to this, he never said anything to my brother-in-law that she was sick, and Greg was shocked when he got there. He raced the bird to the vet but she died in the car on the way.
My brother-in-law called me very upset, and I forgot to ask if he left Zelda at the vet for a necropsy, so I don't know how she died. I don't know why I'm posting such a depressing message, other than as a reminder that not everyone, no matter how much you try to help and guide them, really want to understand that our fids are not like cats or dogs, and that their little systems are much more sensitive. I'm thankful that I found all of you to help me along the way as Jack is my first experience (as an adult) with birds.
