I've got to admit that I've never seen a Peachfaced Lovebird with this kind of coloring. If I had to make a guess, I would say it looks like a red suffused bird in blue series. Suffusion is something that I've only seen in green series but I can't think of any other explanation that might possibly sound reasonable.

Anyone else have any thoughts???

She is a beauty and it just breaks my heart that anyone would be looking to re-home and ELEVEN year old lovebird. :( Same age as my Oliver. I have no idea what mutation she is other than a peachface. Poor baby, maybe she'll get lucky and find someone as good as Oliver did when he found me. :)

WOW, she is gorgeous. I agree Janie, I feel bad for her being 11 yrs old and no real home. How far is Shy from her? :D

I think you are right about the suffusion, Linda. She's a gorgeous girl and Shy is in Alberta, not BC unfortunately, but............................we have quite a few members in BC, so perhaps someone could find a little extra room for such a pretty girl. ;) Shame I couldn't sneak her across the border.

It is when a lovebird changes color from normal to red, not being a genetic passed characteristic. This link explains it a bit better. http://www.africanlovebirdsociety.com/genetics/red.htm
