We've been inquiring about any lovies that need a home in our area and so far not one little soul yet. Of course thats good that there's not many homeless birds around, thank god. I'm a little apprehensive about waiting too long though because I think a companion would be of great benefit to Goofy. Hopefully by mid summer either I'll find one or with the help of a friend maybe purchase and give ourselves a little more options.

Goofy does well around poeple and even has a couple visitors who come to see him (not me). I think his master plan is to have us all at his disposal! I would be more happy to see him spend more time socializing and interacting with another lovebird, as when he's with me he's very demanding attention wise. I don't mind but his activity level is a little low being the velcro, more like, glued on bird that he is. I do let him out for exercize, not be stuck to my nose the whole time he's out!

Also, the shoulder picking persists. The vet assured me of his good health otherwise, but its still a concern as far as infection. Occasionally I've had to apply neosporin to help prevent infection and soften the area up. So far so good but would prefer to alleviate this problem once and for all.

Take care evryone..:) 8o :) ....Goofy and Michael

Instead of waiting for someone to contact you.... have you checked these sites? Rescue organisations are overwhelmed with birds and always in need of a foster family or a permanent new home for a baby.

There are links for each states included :)

Thanks Ellie....I briefed the link you supplied and it was more than just interesting. I will go back and review when I get more time later. In the event I do ultimately adopt, to meet the criterion according to their standards would be a challenge and a big help. .......Michael and Goofy

IttyandRita. I have checked their site and although I'd love to take ALL of them in I'll probably give it some more time. I do appreciate it though. I'll keep checking them occasionally. In Ashtabula, Ohio there's a lovebird breeder at a local flea mart on U.S. Rt.20. Often lovies get brought back, unwanted generally, and for reasons unknown we're not sure where they end up as they don't appear to go out for resale. Other breeders as well as myself (i'm not a breeder) have been paying close attention to these poeple and we think they're being sold to pet smart and other various pet retailers, but that is inconclusive. hopefully nothing detrimental is happening to them. Unfortunately asking too many questions can hinder the process. We've had success in closing two local dog kennels who starved the poor animals, but I'm optimistic the lovebird breeders do care about their birds as they look to be in good condition. Well, thats another story, and anyways I still have a lot to consider, but Goof will eventually gain a companion. That we know for sure.:) .....Thanks again...Michael and Goofy
