Hello-
I spend most of my time in an attic office/den. It gets very hot in the summer and I have always used a window air conditioner.
This year, little Skye is with me and I am afraid to put it on. How does everyone feel about keeping a lovie in a room with an air conditioner?
It is hot as  in here, so I need your help. Thanks!

I just moved to Portland from Oahu in Hawaii. We lived on the hot side of the island and had an air conditioner in our bird room. We never had any problems and they reacted better to the ac than the extreme heat. I would just make sure the ac is cleaned out regularly to keep dirt and mold out of the air.

I live in Florida and AC is almost mandatory here!! My temperature preference inside is 80F and all my birds are fine with that! They prefer AC to the 90F - 95F temperatures outside. Yes, they would acclimate but I feel better with everyone inside.

We keep an A/C in the office and there are birds in there that do fine, even with the temp being set to 70ยบ at times. As long as they aren't in the path of the air blowing on them, they are fine.

I live on the 2nd floor of a two family home, so it gets very hot during the summer and I have to have an air conditioner in my bird room. As MJ mentioned, none of their cages are directly in front of the air conditioner, so they can't get a chill from it. To my knowledge, I don't believe they can harm birds in any way.

Keep drafts off lovies, and they can handle temperatures near freezing.
Don't introduce a birdie into a cold room suddenly. Take it in stages, and they will be just fine. Heck, I live in Canada, and there are days in the winter where my house gets to 15 degrees C. That's about 60 deg F, for you southerners.

My bird room has an air conditioner that is on 90% of the time during the summer. It does not blow directly on their cages and I don't set it as cool as the rest of our house. I like "my" a/c between 68 to 70 degrees but I keep theirs at about 75. Their room would go higher than 95 degrees w/o an a/c. :omg:

I was worried about the a/c too, it gets so hot and humid here that I do have to run the air at times, I just make sure that the birds aren't in any draft.

We live in AZ we have the air on non-stop from April to October. We make sure the vent does not have it blowing on the birdies. They are fine :-)
