For the past few months that I have had her (although I am starting to seriously suspect that she is a he) Fenway has become more tame around me, steps up (usually), and will let me hand feed her. She would hop onto my shoulder and stay there for a maximum of a minute before flying to perch somewhere else. I have been very patient and had come to accept that she probably would not be a really cuddly, loves-being-with-mom bird.
It seems as though some sort of switch was thrown inside that birdie brain of hers last Friday night...
I woke up Saturday and had a bird on my shoulder for hours! She nibbled on my earrings, my glasses, my hair. She went everywhere with me...I would sit down to watch TV and get the feeling that I was being watched... and that adorable little face would be peeking up around my shoulder and staring at my face!
I have no idea if this is going to continue, or if it was a one-time thing, but it was so nice! Words can't describe how happy I was, and she seemed quite pleased with her birdie-self as well!
Anyhow, I wanted to share this, as I know it very well could have been a temporary behavior- but I loved it! :D
