i've got kind of an issue here. i have only one place i can keep my lovebird and that is in my room on the bottum floor of my house. i think Olive is getting upset with this because he squawks every time i go out of the room or even if someone else walks by the room. he has got alot of toys to play with in his cage but i have never seen him playing with any of them. i do give him alot of attention and bring him out every morning, afternoon(depending if im home) and evening. perhaps i pay too much attention to him?

If Olive never learned to play with toys, they are just objects in his cage. Birds are gregarious and very social animals. They need to be part of a flock. Just being in the same room as everyone else is often enough for them.

Olive may be screaming for attention every time someone walks by because he may be hoping he can join the rest of you in the other room.

Because of their socail nature, I don't think there is such a a thing as paying too much attention. In the wild they are in flock so they are never alone. They socialise, the eat together, they nap together, they do everything together.

Your bird may learn eventually to spend some quiet time alone but for the main part, it needs to be with a flock.
