Ok, I have my two new lovies... trying to be very patient. I just want to grab them and force my love on them!!!!!!! :) But no, I sit with my hand in the cage holding a treat, for hours on end while they timidly explore... they have come and stood on my hand a few times... (they aren't clipped yet!)

so tonight, to keep myself awake. I started singing to them... oh my goodness.. you should have heard the racket!!!!! wow! If I was just listening, I might have thought they were in distress (maybe they were) but they were so cute making all kinds of sounds and blinking their eyes and stretching their necks at me. So, the question is were they enjoying this or not?

I am so new to them, I really don't know their sounds at all. Any thoughts? Are there any standard sort of lovie sounds I should know??

I know patience is difficult for most of us, but if you continue to move slowly as you've been doing so far, your birdies will accept you very soon!
I think the sounds and motions they were making tonight mean they were settling in, comfortable and content, and just maybe, connecting with you and your voice :) At least, thats' what I like to think...

I love all their chatter...and my house is just FULL of birdies singing !!!

Since I've had my birds, I've had nothing but good responses to singing. They would be the only ones that like my singing then :lol
I know the case with lovies would be different, but soft singing was actually the way that I got my macaw to trust me. I would sit by his cage for hours and sing softly with my hand in his cage, pretty much the same as you are doing, and one day he just came up, and pushed his head into my open palm for scritches!!! My lovie likes to come up to my hand and cock his head and listen, but he is a bit more cautious, and won't initiate contact :(
Singing seems to be soothing to them, I think. They seem to identify with it a bit, and some may try to sing to you also. You seem to be making good progress :)

I also found that singing made my lovie sit up and take notice. When I sometimes sing, she'll stop whatever she was doing and listen, looking at me and tilting her head, and sometimes she evens peeps a little bit too. :) If only she could learn to keep a tune! XD

Any singing or unusual noise will make Kirby stand up SO HIGH, to the point where the chicken leg term and food are noticeable :p, and his eyes will become so round and his head gets this flat look to it.

it's quite amusing.

I'd say thats definitely a good response from your lovies. If they show any interest in something that youre doing, keep on at it :)
