Hey guys,

So my little baby has bonded to me almost instantly, he flies to me from out of his cage, insists on jumping into my plate when I try to eat :lol loves kissies, and calls to me incessantly if I leave the room...

However, he hasn't really bonded to my fiance at all...he allows him to hold him, but tries to nip at him a lot, and will not voluntarily come out of his cage unless I am home.

Any ideas on how to get them more acquainted? I wouldn't mind, but I think Jason is kind of getting his feelings hurt

Christian, the more times he spend with your lovie, the more they will bond. Oliver was always a friendly bird so from the day we adopted him he would ride on every family members shoulder. He spent a lot of time out of his cage and when I was gone, my hubby or sons (they are older) would always take him out.

Big Boi and Shy, hand fed and "tame" when I got them, did not adjust quickly to other family members. For that matter, they didn't except ME for about 2 weeks to a month and then only because I spent so much time with them they figured they might as well accept me cause I was not going away! :lol My hubby showed very little interest in them (I think he was afraid that these two additions would lead to 20 or 30 more! :lol) and therefore, they freaked out every time he walked in the bird room. I sat them down, hubby and sons, and explained to them that if they wanted them to be friendly like Oliver, they would have to make the effort DAILY and that it would take time. Now, can't keep Big Boi and Shy off my hubby (I love it!) and they've come to accept my oldest son and trust him. Younger son....the jury is still out but at least he can manage them well enough to take care of them when hubby and I are out of town.

The more time your bf spends with your lovie, the better the chance that he'll be accepted as part of the flock! :D All three of mine ARE and will always be MY birds but it's nice to know that they are OK with other family members. :)

If you use baby talk with your lovie, tell your finance that he should, too! :D I promise that your bird will come around faster if he feels comfortable with your bf and is treated as close as possible in the same way by him as by you.
