Default I think we're about ready

I know that I haven't been on much lately, but the boys are doing so much better since Cipher passed on. I think we're just about ready to welcome a new lovie baby into our house - I just have to find one!

The breeder that Cipher came from doesn't have any peachy babies ready right now, but she IS handfeeding an orangeface that came from a Lutino dad and seagreen opaline mama- that one sounds gorgeous (genetic whiz people - can you tell if it's male or female from that?). I definitely don't want to handfeed, so we'll wait until somebirdy is weaned. We're looking more for personality than coloring, so if this one doesn't "take" to us like Cipher did, we'll just keep waiting.

On a side note, we adopted a dog last week. She's a perfectly trained 4-year old labradoodle named Maggie that LOVES kids, cats, birds, other dogs, pretty much everything. She's laid back, friendly, playful, and pretty much the best dog on earth (not that I'm biased or anything ).

Well congrats on the new dog! I sure hope it'll work out with this new lovebird. I think orangefaces are super cute. I want one

I've also been doing some research today into adopting an adult lovie, if our breeder doesn't have any babies that we click with. We seem to be on a roll with adopting animals lately Anybody in the Tampa area have experience with the Florida Parrot Rescue?

    Check your private messages.

As for Florida Parrot Rescue, my avian vet works with them and she recommended me as being able to help but was turned down flat because of my breeder status. I explained to them that I could help but not adopt, but I didn't even get a response to that suggestion. They take in a lot of birds but they also turn around and adopt them right back out again without adequate time for evaluation of each bird.
